March Honoring MLK Jr.
MLK Jr.'s birthday is always a day of action at Local 8. This year's March and Rally ending at the Federal Building had a small but energized group...despite the threat of heavy snow. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968 at age 39 in Memphis. He was there to support striking sanitation workers.

Local 8 Executive Board Members, Janice Herrera and Audrey Gunderson (both work at Providence Hospital Everett) rally with postal workers at Congressman Rick Larsen’s office. The USPS is closing the only distribution center north of Seattle with 95 jobs lost.

Social Security’s trust fund has a $2.6 trillion surplus right now, which is enough to pay everyone’s benefits in full for another 25 years. But some politicians with an agenda to undermine the program insist that Social Security is going broke.
